Our Story

Established in George Town since 2009

Seri Adil was established in 2009 with a deliberate focus on pension-related legal matters at a time when individuals navigating disputes with pension funds and employers often found themselves without a practitioner whose practice was shaped specifically for that purpose.

Our chambers are located on the eighth floor of a quiet building on Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah — a street that has housed professional offices in George Town for several decades. The setting reflects how we work: away from noise, with attention given to the matter at hand.

Over the years we have assisted individuals with pension document reviews, mediation proceedings, and formal tribunal hearings across northern Malaysia. The matters differ in scope and complexity, but the approach remains consistent — careful reading of the documents, honest assessment of the position, and a pace that allows for reflection before decisions are taken.

Ahmad Kamaluddin

Principal Practitioner

Ahmad has advised on pension entitlement matters since 2004, with particular experience in EPF nomination disputes and scheme administration irregularities. He reads every file personally before any work commences.

Suraya binti Lim

Legal Associate

Suraya focuses on document preparation, written submissions, and correspondence with pension funds and tribunals. She joined the chambers in 2016 after several years in employment law practice in Kuala Lumpur.

Norzahra Razif

Client Liaison & Administration

Norzahra manages initial enquiries, coordinates appointments, and ensures that clients receive prompt and clear communication throughout their engagement. She has been with the practice since 2018.

How We Work

Standards that shape every engagement

Malaysian Bar membership

All practising members of Seri Adil hold current practising certificates issued by the Malaysian Bar. Professional conduct standards and continuing development obligations are maintained as required.

Written fee agreements

No work commences without a signed fee agreement. For phased engagements, each phase is agreed separately before it begins. Invoices reflect only what was agreed.

Client confidentiality

All client information and communications are treated as strictly confidential. We do not share details of any client matter with third parties without written consent, except where required by law.

Documented process

Every review, submission, and correspondence is documented and retained. Clients receive copies of all material produced on their behalf in both print and electronic formats.

Plain language communication

We write for clients, not for other lawyers. Where legal terms are necessary, they are explained. Where plain English will do, we use it.

Paced to the matter

We do not create artificial urgency. Progress through each stage of an engagement is shaped by the complexity of the matter and the client's own circumstances — not by the firm's convenience.

The pension landscape in Malaysia encompasses EPF (Employees Provident Fund) accounts, civil service pension schemes, and private occupational arrangements. Each operates under its own set of rules and administrative practices. When disputes arise — over nomination forms, entitlement calculations, fund administration decisions, or beneficiary designations — individuals often require legal assistance to understand their position and to pursue the appropriate avenue for resolution.

Seri Adil's chambers in Penang have worked with clients from across Pulau Pinang, Kedah, and Perak on matters that range from straightforward document queries to formal proceedings before the relevant authorities. The work is not always contentious — many clients come to us simply to understand what their documents mean and what their options are before deciding on any course of action.

Our three services — Pension Document Review, Mediation and Negotiated Settlement, and Full Representation in Pension Tribunal Matters — are structured to match the nature of the matter rather than to provide a single pathway for every client. Where a review is sufficient, we do not recommend mediation. Where mediation is appropriate, we prepare for it thoroughly but without predetermining the outcome.
